Summary: The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna is about a girl named Eva, whose life is not her own's, because she is a creation, an echo. Made by the Weavers as a copy of a girl named Amarra, if Amarra died Eva would replace her, easing a families pain of loss. She spends her entire life learning how to be exactly like Amarra and when Amarra dies in a car crash, Eva is ready to live in her place, but she finds there is a lot she is not prepared for. What Eva finds is a family and boyfriend, who are unsure how to handle this echo. She must decide: stay and be a copy forever, or risk it all for her freedom. To be Eva. My Thoughts: I gave this book a 4/5 stars on goodreads. This stand alone wasn't bad, but it feels as if all the problems are solved to quickly and easily. In a good book the problem is hard to solve and perhaps takes a few tries and fails to resolve. It just all happened a bit to quickly for my taste. It was, however, an easy read that doesn't take much time to read or commitment, because it has to sequel/ series. It was almost paranormal, but not to the point were it was creepy or made it hard to sleep at night. I recommend this to people who like dystopian novels or would like to read a paranormal, but don't want nightmares. |
