The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black is about a girl named Tana. She lives in a world where cities called Coldtowns exist as a quarantine for monsters and their prey. The only problem is that those who enter the Coldtown's gates never leave. One morning after a party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only survivors are her ex-boyfriend, who is infected, and mysterious boy with a big secret. Tana races against the clock, trying to save them the only way she knows how: by entering Coldtown. My Thoughts: I loved this standalone novel more than I thought I would. I was a bit skeptical about it, but a youtuber I am subscribed to says it is one of her favorite standalone novels, so I thought I would give it a go. It was great, but the ending leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but not with enough content for a second book. It seems as if all their problems get solved in the last 10 pages. While there are some flaws to this book, it is still a great novel and I will definitely read more of Holly Black's books. |
